Two Hour Storytelling Workshop - Wednesday, March 21, 2018, Side Bar and Restaurant, West Chester, PA

This one-night class will give you the tools to draft your story and tips on how hold the audience's attention. The session consists of classroom instruction and interaction. Topics include: What Makes a Good Story, Basic Story Structure, and Creative Language. We recommend arriving a few minutes early if you would like to order some food and drink. All attendees will receive an email with stories to watch before the class so it's important to pre-register.

Course Instructors

Jim Breslin is the founder of the West Chester Story Slam, a monthly storytelling event in its 9th year. Over 770 stories have been told in front of thousands of audience members. He is also the co-founder of Lancaster Story Slam and has been a featured storyteller at the Scranton Story Slam, Tell Me a Story and Liberation. Jim has also told stories at First Person Arts and The Moth Philly. Jim is a writer, editor, publisher and multi-media producer, having been a television producer at the world’s largest home shopping network QVC. He is the author of the novel SHOPLANDIA and the short story collection Elephant: Short Stories and Flash Fiction. His writing has been published in a variety of journals and magazines. He lives in West Chester, PA.

 

 

Terry Heyman  is a writer and frequent story slammer. She’s been a featured storyteller in the 2013 Wilmington production of “Listen To Your Mother,” the 2014 Women in Comedy Festival in Boston, Philadelphia’s Tell Me A Story, and a four-time West Chester Story Slam champion. Her writing has appeared in Chester County FictionThe WC Press, and McSweeney’s, among other places.
